Come Again, First Rain

Where are those first raindrops that fell
on our coupled, drunken lips; neat spell?

Dreams flutter on today's foolish whims
But let them breathe in all of tomorrow's sins

Before lying them on yesterday's ghostly altar
And in sacred ceremonies of hoary slaughter

Pour drop by drop that liquor of the first rain
To quell for just a moment, rebirth of my pain

Because  someday the universe will melt in gloom
and Andromeda will fold into the milky way's womb

The moon and a myriad stars and that charted planet path
Will drown in those first rain drops of love's needless wrath
